South Marquerita Avenue Urban Infill is a 20-unit residential housing in AlhambraCalifornia, that stitches two under-used parcels between South Marquerita and South CurtisAvenues into a compact, human-scaled neighbourhood where three low-rise buildings hucthe perimeter and release a sun-drenched courtyard at the heart of daily life; inspired bythe street's century-old Craftsman bungalows, the architecture reinterprets porch andmotifs through wooden claddings, high-performance glazing and photovoltaic shingleswhile subtle facade shifts break down mass and capture the play of Southern Californialight.
A second-floor open deck bridges the western pair of buildings to form a floating "frontporch in the sky," and a trellised passage off South Marguerita funnels residents toward anoversized courtyard stair that doubles as fostering spontaneous community gatheringsBeneath canopies, permeable-paver surface parking-Four EV Charging Stalls- advancinglow-carbon mobility. The project practices sustainability by utilizing passive solarorientation, heat pump mechanical units, high performance window glazings, continuousexterior insulation and PV shingle roofs. By weaving Craftsman heritage with 21st-centuryresilience, South Marguerita Avenue Urban Infill demonstrates that thoughtfully scaled density can deliver attainable housing, environmental stewardship and vibrant communitylife in the heart of Alhambra.
