The Contour Sanctuary is a 5,000 square foot single-family residence perched within a rugged, semi-arid landscape. Shaped around integration with the hillside, contemporary form, and a lifestyle of elevated luxury, represents a ground-up rethinking of the single-family home. The project redefines modern living by prioritizing light, seamless connection to the natural environment through expansive views, and a street presence that feels both welcoming and respectful to its context.

The building’s massing breaks down the 5,000 square foot volume into a series of stacked, layered planes and articulated volumes that follow the contours of the hill. This approach creates a complex play of light and shadow across the multiple facades, generating a series of readable components that elevate the architectural character. A restrained material palette of cool-toned plaster, dark metal accents, and extensive floor-to-ceiling glass emphasizes clarity and modern simplicity, with large, strategically placed openings that frame panoramic views across the canyon. Multiple protected terraces extend from different levels, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living and deeping the connection to the landscape.
